Testimony Wistik

In the early 80s, long before 'Kom op tegen kanker' wrote its success story, Gerd Koyen founded the non-profit organization Wistik..

Together with the pioneers of the first hour and the many volunteers who supported and supported the operation until the end, the non-profit organization Wistik has made a big difference for thousands of people who were confronted with cancer.

Several initiatives were set up:

Meeting moments and days for people who needed to talk to an expert or fellow sufferers,
Information evenings and days for people who were looking for alternative or supportive forms of therapy or help.
On the website you could find a lot of information about the program.
There was a physical place in the Beguinage where people could regularly drop by for a conversation over a cup of tea or coffee.
There was a rich library where people could look at or borrow a book.
A physical info folder was made
A rich folder bundled stories of people with cancer
The magazine Wistik was created and distributed.
Lectures and weeks of silence were organized

The non-profit organization was supported by a group of doctors, professors, experts by experience and a large group of volunteers. It is our intention to make this information accessible again via our website. This is still a work in development for the time being.

Because the non-profit organization Wistik gave great importance to the relationship between mind and body, mental and physical health from the beginning and focused on the importance of silence, slowing down, reducing stress and connection with the healing powers in nature, the non-profit organization decided after Gerd's death to transfer all information and the remaining financial resources to the non-profit organization Silence@Work where Dr. Koen Vandewalle is a member of the board.

We look forward to making this precious work usable again and possibly supplementing it with new initiatives in the spirit of the non-profit organization Wistik.
